About Irradiation
Irradiation is my single-player vaporware Half-Life 1 modification under development (if you think something like "sheesh, who needs some crappy hl1 mod nowadays", GTFO plzkthxbye). It doesn't aims for photorealism, deliberately trying to look old-skool. But it really changes game mechanics.
Currently implemented features are:
  • ZSpace system for tricky map topologies - traveling is non-transitive! (you go from A to B, but when you try to return from B to A, you end up in C instead!)
  • New sounds and music
  • Code reworked for most weapons
  • Improved realism
    • Greatly increased damages
    • Aiming accuracy decreased when moving
    • Decreased moving speed, removed bunnyhoping
    • Dash, stamina system
    • New medkit system - now you may carry up to 3 medkits with yourself
  • Tweaked AI
    • Decreased reaction time
    • Soldiers aim accuracy improved
    • Soldiers may roam around on themselves
As a result, gameplay is changed drastically, becoming somewhat similair to Counter-Strike (maybe even less forgiving). Now even 1 human grunt is dangerous. Several of them -> you're down in 1 second. And it's not like they're too powerfull, they just have same parameters as a player. Bye-bye HL1 walk-in-the-park gameplay. In this mod, you'll need to use tactical thinking. Good reflexes and aiming won't save you. I gave test version of Irradiation to a guy who is _really_ good at HL1 (at least much better than me), and he wasn't able to clear a small map with ~5 hgrunts. Yet with some planning I finished it after a few tries.
